Seven boats you can drive on your own, from a 6 HP pottering boat to a 200 HP speedboat. No skipper, no schedule, no one telling you when to come back.
You need a valid boat licence for every boat on this page. Any nationality is accepted. Without one you cannot drive, but you can take the same boat with a skipper.
Self-drive means the boat is your responsibility for the whole day. You must hold a valid licence, keep to the speed limits in the slow zones, stay under the alcohol limit, and cover any damage in full.
Every boat on this page is also available with one of our skippers on board, and six more besides, the big cruisers that cannot be self-driven at all.
See the skippered fleetYes. Croatian law requires a valid boat licence to drive any of these boats, and the responsibility for that sits with us as the owner. It is our fine and our damage if something goes wrong. Any nationality of licence is accepted. If you do not have one, take the same boat with a skipper instead.
On the smaller boats (Romantic, Passara) fuel is included in the day rate. On the bigger self-drive boats fuel is paid separately, based on what you actually use, so a lazy day round the Pakleni costs a lot less than a run to Vis.
Yes, a refundable deposit is taken at pickup and returned when the boat comes back in the same condition. The amount depends on the boat, ask when you book and it will be in your quote, no surprises on the day.
From Hvar town. You will get the exact spot and a time when your booking is confirmed. Allow a few minutes at the start for the handover. We run through the controls, the anchor and where not to go.
If it is not safe to go out we will tell you before you pay for the day, and you can move to another date or take the money back. We would rather lose a booking than send you out in a bad sea.
It depends on the boat, each one lists its range on the card above. The small boats stay around the Pakleni Islands, the mid-range ones reach the South Side, and the bigger self-drive boats can reach Vis and Šćedro comfortably in a day.
Croatian law requires a valid boat licence to drive any of these boats yourself. Any nationality is fine. It just has to be a real one.
On this boat the day rate covers the boat. Fuel is separate, and you only pay for what you actually burn, so the bill is yours to control.
Pottering. Cross to the Pakleni at a gentle speed, anchor up, swim, drift home. Most families land here.
Full throttle. Long runs at speed, out to Šćedro and back, engine wide open most of the day.
It is the same tank either way, the difference is entirely in the right hand. Two identical boats can leave on the same morning and come back €200 apart.
You take the boat with a full tank and bring it back full, or we settle the difference when you return. Nothing is estimated up front and nothing is guessed. You pay the pump price for the litres you used.

The boat is in your hands for the day. That is the appeal of it, and it is also the deal, by booking a self-drive boat you are agreeing to the following.
None of this is here to scare you off, the vast majority of days go perfectly. But the boat is ours and the licence is yours, so it is worth both of us being clear before you set off.
